My Girl is Missing

One of my cats is missing and I'm just feeling so sad about it. I'm not expecting any particular responses but want to get it off my chest.

She went missing a few days ago, I've checked my CCTV and know which direction she went in but no one has seen her.

I feel like I'm never going to see her again. She hasn't been very well and has been seeing the vet regularly. I've got this horrible feeling that she was iller than we realised and she's gone away somewhere to die. I'm hoping she's locked in somewhere and someone will open their shed and she'll randomly reappear.

I've had cats my whole life and have never been in this limbo and it feels awful.

I've followed all the advice about enticing a lost cat home, I've posted everywhere, I've put up posters. Nothing has helped.

Oh no I'm so sorry. Really hoping she comes home soon Flowers

WhichWitchWillBeWhich · 10/07/2023 21:29

It’s an awful feeling but don’t give up hope yet.
🤞

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/07/2023 21:38

Thank you.

She is very distinctive so hopefully someone will see her. I've shared far and wide, my NC sister has somehow seen it on the socials so I'm definitely getting it out there.

I've found a company that does free posters for lost pets so I'm creating one now.

As it stands, the last thing I said to her is I'm not putting anything else down, there's food there, so that isn't helping.

Hopefully I'll wake up in the morning with her asleep next to me.

Oh OP they are such a worry aren’t they. Hopefully she’s just found a cool spot to sleep in overnight or she’s punishing you for not putting fresh food down. (Mine have done both I think!) Fingers crossed for a safe return soon.

Any luck @HunterHearstHelmsley ?

Lostmum476 · 11/07/2023 22:40

Sending love. I so hope you find her

caringcarer · 11/07/2023 23:33

Have you tried calling her at about 4am.when it's very quiet out? Putting the contents of her litter tray out over night so if she got lost she might smell the scent of her litter and come home. I'm sorry she's missing.

Any luck @HunterHearstHelmsley ?

No sign yet.

A scammer called me yesterday, pretending to be from the RSPCA and she'd been found and tried to get some money from me for treatment.

I've got some posters coming this morning.

I've put the litter out and some bedding of hers, I'm going to put my worn gym kit out too, hopefully that will smell strongly of me.

Any news?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 13/07/2023 20:30

Still nothing. I'm crossing my fingers that she's got shut in somewhere and whoever has shut her in is going to open their garage/shed/outhouse this weekend.

My other cats are behaving oddly. Nothing worrying but unusual for them. They're around constantly, I think they're either missing her or can tell I'm upset.

Everything crossed for her safe return, will be thinking of you 🤞

HunterHearstHelmsley · 31/07/2023 19:37

She is still missing. I don't think she's coming home. The idea of not knowing where is she, what happened to her is heartbreaking.

I'm shocked how much this has affected me.

You must be beside yourself with worry. The not knowing is the worst. 💐

Igmum · 31/07/2023 22:11

So sorry Hunter. I've always owned cats and have been through this a few times. It is heartbreaking. If she's gone away to die she's probably not far, just hiding. Sending love ❤️

Oh I'm so sorry to read this thread. I hadn't seen it before and quickly scrolled to the end in the hope she was back, as I've seen so many threads where puss has eventually come home.

I really feel your pain. Our girl is virtually a house cat. She goes into the garden, but no further, although she did escape from a window years ago, when she was younger. We found her the next day, but we had a sleepless night.

You hear of cats returning weeks, months, or even years later, so please don't give up hope.

LouisCatorze · 01/08/2023 15:16

Don't lose hope OP. There have been a couple of cats local to us who had been missing for around a month but turned up alive and well. I hope your kitty comes home.
