Is this wound ok?

Hi everyone. My 5mo kitten was spayed yesterday. We have to keep the cone on her because when we took it off for her to eat she nibbled on it a bit and pulled it. I put her cone back on straight away and she hasn't pulled anything out, but one of the stitches seems a little loose rather than tight and it's a bit red at the side like blood?

Does this look ok? The red bit is darker in person I'm wondering if it's just dried blood though or if it's started to bleed when she tugged it. I'm not sure

Looks perfect.
Wash any saliva away with salt water to prevent infection.

The light red patch is actually very dark red in person which is what has me worried. That part of the wound is more open where's the rest is tightly sealed

Why not get her a suit to wear instead . When our Siamese was spayed her wound went a bit awry and she ended up in a suit for a couple of weeks . When we first put it on she looked like she was having a stroke but after about a minute she was fine in it .

Try to get a more accurately-coloured picture (my camera isn't great so I struggle too!) and email it to the vets, then call and ask for the vet to have a look. I'm sure it's fine but it'll put your mind at rest to have the vet say so.

I discovered if I put the cones on backwards (facing towards the tail instead of over the head) the cat is much happier and still can't get to their wounds. But this was a soft cone, not sure if it'd work with a hard one.

@Floralnomad I actually bought a suit for her! It got delivered today. As she had a flank spay I ordered one with legs so that she couldn't move the material to the side to lick and chew the stitches. However I put it on her and the legs are so long she couldn't walk. I have cut them off and then she wouldn't let me put it back on her. I will try again later when my partner gets home to help me

She is confined to the spare room which just has a mattress on the floor and her food and litter so there's not much for her to jump on. But it took me 10 mins to get the suit on her as she was flying around the room to get away from me and I worried it would cause her wound harm so I don't want to try that again just yet 🙈 any tips?

The vet told us that if it gets infected you'll be able to see it. It'll feel hot compared to her side, not just warm (test with the flat of your hand, not fingertips), and it'll start to look swollen.

Ours both nearly killed themselves trying to run backwards away from their cones even though they were soft ones. But they forgot about the wounds within a couple of days anyway.
