I'm not sure where I'm going with this so bear with me. Misty is 5 months old, very much part of the family and we love her so much, however I'm not sure we are doing things right in terms of feeding and sleeping.
Feeding wise she has dry Iams coming out on an auto timer at about 6am which she usually eats some of. Then she has a pouch of wet food around 7am. More Iams at lunch, then another wet pouch at about 6pm. In total she has two wet pouches and approx. 30g of dry food in one day. However, she is being sick most nights during the night and we can't figure out why. Vet is unconcerned but we are! We try not to let her gorge too much but something is clearly happening in the night for her to be sick. I am wondering if it might be the 6am Iams on an empty stomach? Are we doing the right thing in terms of food?
Sleeping wise she doesn't seem to settle during the day. She is easily distracted and would rather follow us around the house than try to sleep. She is an indoor cat (ragdoll) and very needy (we knew this about ragdolls and it's absolutely not a problem as we work from home) but it means she doesn't ever settle for long periods. She also doesn't care where she sleeps - it could be in the middle of a cold hard floor as long as she is near us! Is this normal? We try to encourage her to use her basket, the sofa or our bed, or at least have some sort of "sleeping space" that she can go to, but she will literally just flop anywhere. Overnight she is shut in the kitchen (due to being sick we can't have her anywhere there is carpet) with all her things but I think she just sleeps on the kitchen table.
I am overthinking all of this I know, but I would be interested to know your feeding and sleeping habits if you have similar aged kittens, just to put my mind at rest at bit that we are doing things right. Thank you.
Kitten tax paid, one demonstrating one of her sleeping positions whilst I work!
