Worming tablet. Cat not right

I gave my cat front line wormer today. 4 hours later she threw it up. Very badly. She keeps walking strange on her back legs. She's bit wobbly. Should I be concerned?

Yes, call the vet immediately. Some animals react badly to medication.

I've just gone through similar with my dog after a flea tablet, scary time, but she's OK now. , Unfortunately, the vet was hopeless, saying it was a muscular issue, although she did administer pain relief. I really hope your kitty is OK. horrible to see them suffering

She's currently on my knee having cuddles feeling sorry for herself. Bless her. I'm going to see how she goes. If she throws up again or gets worse then I'll contact the vet. Thank you

Even if she gets better please contact your vet on Monday. This needs to go on her records that she can't have that particular one again, and they can report it to the manufacturers. Was it bought via the vets or online?

I'm glad she's feeling slightly better though Flowers

Online. Think I'll go to vets for worming advice next time x

Hope your cat is ok this morning - this happened to one of my cats a few hours after being given a worming treatment by vet - I think the term is transient ataxia. He was fine within a couple of hours, but no longer has the treatment.

Whatalife88 · 18/06/2023 10:05

She's a lot better today. No wobbling and has eaten. Seems more tired than usual but keeping my eye on her x

Mine had a similar reaction without the vomiting to a worming spot on. Didn't last long. She is fine with Milbemax tablets.

I'm glad she's feeling better but definitely only buy flea and worming treatments via the vet for now. I always think that unless it's a reputable seller then anything ingested shouldn't be bought online. Not since that investigative journalist (Roger Cooke?) found metal filings, mouse droppings and rat poison in tablets for humans. It's just not worth it.

How does she react to the annual vaccinations? Mine couldn't have them all in one go as she reacted so badly. Our vet was so kind and didn't charge us for the extra visits and also contacted the manufacturers in case they needed to change their leaflets.
