Flea advice

Hi! Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

My little cat has managed to get fleas and I'm unsure of what to do as when we last used a flea treatment he ended up with chemical burns and needed antibiotics.
I've since bought some different flea treatment with different ingredients but my partner won't let me put it on him incase the same issue happens.
We go on holiday in a week and I need to get this sorted before I leave but I'm worried if I put the new flea treatment on him he will develop chemical burns while I'm away and unable to help him but I also can't leave him for a week with fleas.
Do you think it's worth risking and putting the new treatment on him?
Help!

Are you leaving him on his own? My friend used Bob Martin flea treatment on her cat and it died.. was a healthy cat. Some of these treatments also cause chemical burns. You can get flea treatment pills from the vet, they do the same thing but in my opinion safer.

I think I’d ring the vet, tell them what he reacted to. I’m sure they would give over the phone advice.

The vet should be able to give a three month anti flea and worming injection.

I use the PetsAtHome monthly worming tablet and drops. Not quite a efficacious as Advocate, etc., but neither does it whiff as much and the cats accept it. It has to be better than nothing.
