Advice - moved homes cat hiding from me

i need some advice. I have a 12 year old indoor cat who has started in the past week to run away from me and not seek out cuddles. She lived with only me from being 1 year old in my flat until I moved in to my partners house 4 weeks ago.

My cat was very nervous when I first got her and it took quite a few years for her to be truly comfortable in my flat. She never really got comfortable with visitors. She would wander about but not really want to be touched.

in the last few years she would have a routine of greeting me in the morning and rub up against my legs. During the day if I was working at home she would find me for some attention and was always purring. On days off she would mostly be in the same room as me, sleeping or chatting. My partner has been about for over a year and doesn’t bother with the cat, just let’s her be.

Before I moved my cat went to the cattery for 2.5 weeks as I went on holiday. Thought it would be a better transition of old home, cattery and new home. First week she seemed to settle well. Exploring and finding spots to sleep. She even came for cuddles when I got home and purrs. In the morning would wait outside the bedroom door for attention. Now she is not seeking attention and runs away from me. Will sit at a distance staring and doing very silent meows.

Last week for 2 days she didn’t really eat or want any attention but purred when I went to her. I was in 2 minds to take her to the vet, but she started to eat and act normally. She will now wander about the house relaxing, play, eat, use litter bin etc, but whenever I try to pet or get close to her she runs away. I have had no purrs or cuddles.

I thought she would be fine as the first week she was so purry and cuddly. Now nothing it’s as if realisation has hit and I am being punished for moving.

any advice. Will she come round?

Any sudden change of behaviour, see the vet.

It's possible that Dcat doesn't like your DP or feels displaced by him in the colony pecking order.

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia i was close to taking her but she perked up. Just not wanting attention from me. My DP said she was laid down close to him yesterday. As soon as she heard me she hid. Randomly I was late feeding her and her bowl was empty. She then followed me about (did that in my flat) and hid after I fed her.

Think I am getting g punished
