Where do your cats sleep?

Kofi's absolute favourite place to sleep is in a washing basket. I literally can't take my eyes off a basket before he jumps in! So what strange places do your furry overlords claim as their own?

On cat tree in sitting room.
In my favourite armchair as soon as I stand up.
In the shower.
On DD1's bed.
On the windowsill in my room.
On top of my wardrobe - there's a fleece blanket on top of the wardrobe now for DCat's comfort.
Pressed against the radiator on the upstairs landing.
Underneath any duvet covers or sheets which are hanging up to dry after washing.

On the bed until someone moves their legs too much and then off to the armchair

On my bed, a dining chair, a mat in the bathroom, random items of clothing, under my bed, under a hall table, half way down some stairs.

TheShellBeach · 01/06/2023 00:46

Ours wait until we get up from the sofa then they immediately take our places.

Or sometimes just on our bed.

Absolutely anywhere that isn't a cat basket!

caringcarer · 01/06/2023 01:17

My cats sleep in Igloos in the kitchen but they both love a box more than anything.

dancinginthesky · 01/06/2023 02:18

A doorway
Our coats
Side of my bed
Cat bed if DS is asleep- she thinks she's his babysitter

UkuleleRose · 01/06/2023 02:20

On my chest with drool falling on my neck. He’s lucky I love him.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 01/06/2023 02:24

In a plastic shopping bag.

one day I’m convinced she’ll do herself a mischief. We try so hard to make sure she never gets a hold of one, but occasionally she does.

Currently her general favourite place is an Amazon box that’s too small and looks really uncomfortable.

She has a bigger box, as well as multiple cat beds and a few paper bags, but prefers the small box and any plastic bags she can get a hold of.

At nights mostly on me but at other times on the radiator, on a shelf, in a basket, in a box...

Our boy sleeps wherever he likes and ensures you know that he does what he wants! He sleeps on our bed and in the spare room at other points he sleeps behind the sofa , in the bathroom etc. It depends more on the ambient temperature.

CallMeTomorrow · 01/06/2023 06:06

One of our cats can’t wait to get in my sons bathroom to sleep in the sink, but only his bathroom, he won’t go in the other bathrooms and acts scared of them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ He can also be found inside pillow cases on our beds.

Our other cat likes to sleep in bags for life and in piles of clothing.

Our boy who is no longer with us always slept in a decorative bowl thing which is on a unit in our kitchen.

We have lots of cat beds and blankets around for them, they just rarely choose them.

Choconutty · 01/06/2023 06:15

Boy, generally on my bathroom mat so he can monitor when I wake up more easily.

Girl under a chair in my bedroom, for similar reasons (but she likes to be hidden)

Except for once when she found a pile of dirty washing (I'd already taken the basket downstairs so just dumped my clothes where it would normally be) and decided that was the BEST BED EVER. I found it sweet actually, that she just wanted to be near my stinky socks.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 01/06/2023 06:20

Under our bed in the box of clothes we keep there.

I only worked it out when I heard her soft little snores ❤️

Dilbertian · 01/06/2023 07:59

On top of me. (I can never get a sleeping selfie when he's on me, it always seems to wake him.)

Not sure as i confine them to downstairs overnight otherwise they wake me at 5am!
During the day they sleep: one likes the island bar stool, the other the dining chair. Sometimes the armchair, sometimes underneath the dining chair. The downstairs is all open plan so you can see them (and they can see me).
If I'm working in my office one will sleep on my bed next door (see pic). The other one often on the stairs leading up to my daughters room!
One often sleeps on the outdoor sofa or a neighbours shed roof (where she usually is in the morning when I call her in for breakfast).

Wherever they want! True to cat form our old girl has a favourite spot/person for a while then just suddenly changes her mind. A colleague explained to me that there is a reason that they sleep on the exact same spot (even if it is the very edge of a king size bed with one human in it) and then suddenly change. Cannot remember why though- just cat. She is currently sulking because we have too many foster cats dotted around various rooms in the house. She took to staying outside- even at night😱. So now I have the electric blanket back on -even when it is really hot - and I am rewarded with her furry presence.

Thehippowife · 01/06/2023 22:24

Our cat sleeps next to my dh. He gives me evil side eye if I try to take up too much of “his space” . We all know he is the boss, so we are grateful to be allowed in our bed 🤣🤣

2chocolateoranges · 01/06/2023 22:26

As a kitten our cat would sleep in dh’s baseball caps, the kitchen chair or on top of his work bag. Now she is 9 she opts for a cardboard box or the couch!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/06/2023 22:45

Wherever they like.
Recently Sybil has been spending the night on top of the printer (makes a change from the record deck I suppose...)

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats - sybil is a perfect cat name (and she owns it)! We have a grumpy old girl called Mabel who gives off the same vibe (and who I am currently watching steal food through the bars of the foster kittens/mum crate). Very suprised- she usually stays well away...

willstarttomorrow · 01/06/2023 23:00

Grumpy Mabel- turned up in the garden about 10 years ago aged around 5. Still not been reclaimed!
