Brown scabs in cats ear

I’ve noticed some brown/red marks near my cats ear. They look like scabs but he won’t let me look closely. Does this look like something to be concerned about? He seems fine in himself.

Sorry for the poor quality pic, I will try and get a better one when he’s asleep! IRL there are more patches in the thinner fur between his ear and his eye, and they look more dark brown than red.

Could it be from him scratching himself? My kitten has recently been in the vets. He had very dirty ears, they think maybe an infection and he ended up with scabs in similar places from scratching so much

We had a cat who used to get this. It's from scratching. The vet gave him
Some pills. No idea what they were, but they did the trick.
