Cat stuck on roof

im in bits here my cats got out the loft velux window this morning, it never occurred to me she’d try it and climb up she’s been stuck on the roof for at least 4 hours. Still waiting for the rspca to call me back/send someone. Fire brigade won’t come unless requested by them. It’s hot, she’s walked the length of the roof top but won’t do more than put her paws onto the slope . Neighbours are in the garden to catch her if needed, I don’t know what else to do.
it’s a 12 meter ladder job, we can get within 8 foot of her out the velux but she’s staying put on the ridge 😞
many ideas or someone tell me it’ll be ok

Can you get something quite tall like a sturdy bookcase to put under the velux and then put something tasty on it then leave it for a while to tempt her in off the roof?

Does nobody have a ladder you can borrow? A window cleaner or someone might be able to help?

Stuckinarut79 · 28/05/2023 12:28

Treats are on the window, stuffed a beanbag out one and a pole between two to give her something to grab. It’s a three story building plus the roof so I’ve not found a window cleaner that’ll clean the velux windows, I’ve put messages on all the local Facebook groups, tree surgeons are being tagged. I’m hoping she’ll get brave eventually and come down when she’s hungry , but listening to her cry is horrible and she’s just sat there trembling

lol she’s done 4 hours of crying so I think if she could she would have, ladders and roofers are on their way to stage a rescue attempt

@Stuckinarut79
Put a rug or something over the roof tiles so she can use her claws to climb up. Remember to hold the end at the window really tightly.

CurlewKate · 28/05/2023 13:30

@Stuckinarut79 And speaking of claws wear gloves and long sleeves if you grab her -she WILL scratch you if she's scared.

Yes to this. My reward for rescuing my idiot cat after 24 hours up a tree taller than a 2 storey house, whilst stood on a rickety ladder in the wind ... was being savaged as I tried to climb down the wobbly ladder.

Duckingella · 28/05/2023 14:23

Can of smelly fish like tuna in a bowl next to the window on the roof;if she got up there she'll get back down;she has sharp claws to grip with;she simply needs an incentive to come down

Stuckinarut79 · 28/05/2023 14:49

Shes in a local handyman climbed up and did indeed get clawed. They took my velux window out to get to her, and now it won’t go back in! But she’s in and uninjured , had some food and water. Phew. Thank you for the handhold.

Glad you’ve got her in@Stuckinarut79 , hope you manage to get the window sorted

Datafan55 · 28/05/2023 14:56

Great, glad she's in!

BigPussyEnergy · 28/05/2023 14:57

Ah bless him, glad he could help and hope he gets a reward too!

my friends cat got stuck on our neighbours roof the other night at midnight and we had similar conversations with RSPCA and fire brigade etc. they said as soon as they get the ladder up the cat usually runs down! Luckily she made her own way down in the night. Little adventurer. My cat can’t even jump on the sofa any more! Sad

BlueRidgeMountain · 28/05/2023 15:00

Glad DCat is safe and sound.
and thanks to BigShoutyRaven for giving me a much needed belly laugh!

Glad to hear your cat is home. And I hope you can get the window back in place.

Poor handyman, getting clawed in the process.
