Cat still out at night

Our cat is usually very good at coming home at around 10pm, and sometimes might need a bit of persuasion by rattling the biscuit tin.

I've been out 3 times to call her in and the last time, she was just over the fence in the neighbour's garden and she heard me as she meowed. Still didn't come over though.

Also she seems to be spending a lot of time in the neighbour's garden recently during the day and when I call her in the evening, she jumps from their fence - I don't think she's doing her business there as they don't have a lawn and it's mostly paved and gravel. I don't know what she sees in them, and as former cat owners themselves, I should hope they are not feeding her!

Should I be worried or just go to bed?

Just to add, we've only had her for a few months and she's never stayed out this late before.

Probably because it's getting warmer. Our cat does this every summer ! Can't get rid of him in the winter

DorritLittle · 26/05/2023 00:20

My cat refused to come in tonight for the first time this year. Must be summer.

Kyse23 · 26/05/2023 00:21

Definitely the weather
Not my cat hasn't been here for a good few days but when it's colder he's here every day
My old cat took to my neighbours half dead bush for some reason Confused and would spend hours napping under it
Batshit they are!

Thanks for your reply @drstranger .

I can't help worrying about her!

Thanks everyone. I shall go to bed and hopefully she'll be waking me up to get her her breakfast!

One of mine (Lenny) has started doing this this week, and has been a dirty stop out twice so far. He's always outside in the morning. I assume yours is now back?

drstranger · 26/05/2023 06:01

Is the puss back ?

My mom calls them dirty stop outs too 😆

Our cat hasn't been in at night for a week now. It definitely must be the weather. I stand shouting her and she just ignores me.

Gettingbysomehow · 26/05/2023 06:33

My cats do this in summer too, especially the young one. I've been up at 3 in the morning before looking for them.

xsquared · 26/05/2023 07:07

She's back now. Thank you for asking @drstranger .

Are yours back @Gettingbysomehow ? Hope they come home soon.

Knew she'd be back. 😹 Do we get a photo of her looking completely unrepentant?

drstranger · 26/05/2023 07:21

Waltz in like where's my breakfast human ? 😆🐈

Yes that's the one.
Feed me and then leave me alone - I'm tired now.
Very cute cat OP 👍

DorritLittle · 26/05/2023 08:45

Nawww

Baldieheid · 26/05/2023 08:55

Mine are like this too in summer. Too much to see and do outside.

WotNoUserName · 26/05/2023 09:34

My cat is the same. Snuggled up indoors in winter, only comes in for food in the summer.

As soon as the weather turns nice he's off, sunning himself in the grass and staying out all night doing cat things.

VicSynix · 26/05/2023 17:14

Yup, my cat is also now in summer mode. Comes in for breakfast and supper, and is occasionally seen in our garden. If it starts raining or the temperature drops, he'll be in, otherwise we'll see him properly in September.
