My beautiful, beautiful boy Ginger was ran over tonight and I had to tell the vet over the phone to put him to sleep as we were away.

I'm not sure what happened yet but my suspicion is he was under an electric delivery van, didn't hear it and ended up with a terrible injury. Someone thankfully took him to the vet and I'm almost relieved I didn't see him but equally wish I could have been there for him.

The house is so quiet without him already and I'm absolutely devastated, he'd just turned 5 and I adopted him 4 years ago.

RIP my beautiful Ginger.

I can't post a photo of him for some reason.

Very sorry for your loss. FlowersFlowers

I’m so sorry, we lost our Bengal on the road and I think it was an electric car too.

Its awful to lose them so suddenly.

Swissmrs · 24/05/2023 10:07

Hello Strawberry Fizz,

How are you today? I am so sorry to hear about Ginger.

TheShellBeach · 24/05/2023 10:09

Oh poor Ginger. I'm so sorry about this.
That's a tragic thing to happen.

StrawberryFizz27 · 24/05/2023 19:42

I feel absolutely awful. Even though I've got a dog and 2 other kitties, the house is so quiet without him.

Yes, we always notice when they've gone.
Are the other cats looking for him?

StrawberryFizz27 · 24/05/2023 19:44

Here's my boy.

RIP Ginger

The whole energy of the house is off, everyone is subdued.
It's so strange. He was only 5, had been with me for 4 years and was just the coolest, loving, confident boy.

I'm numb.

i'm so sorry 😞 heartbreaking 💔

TheShellBeach · 24/05/2023 20:02

Oh he's gorgeous! Poor boy.

girlofsandwich · 24/05/2023 20:41

Love your little collage he is beautiful! I'm so sorry for you and Ginger, and his little pals. He looks like he had the happiest cosiest life ever, snuggled up wherever he landed, with a friend close by. It's so hard when the time together is too short, but I'm glad you found eachother x

Swissmrs · 25/05/2023 10:07

The photos are lovely - he's gorgeous and I love his stripy leg and the one of him emerging from his cat-tunnel! He looks like a very well-loved cat.

StrawberryFizz27 · 26/05/2023 00:22

He was such a character, the cat sitter sent a gorgeous card with 4 of her fave photos of him on.

My family have been round, sharing memories & all saying how quiet the house was without him, and the garden. I can feel him lay on my chest & nuzzling me.

Following me & ddog to the shop, giving me a heart attack, being cocky and gorgeous ❤️ then letting it home, round the back and a strolling in the front room ahead of ddog.

The best cat, best big bro & the best cat 💔

I miss him so much.

You'll never forget Ginger. He was part of your family.

Swissmrs · 26/05/2023 10:49

What a lovely cat-sitter you have to send such a thoughtful card. I'm so glad to hear you have support around you and it's obvious that Ginger made a real impression on those around him and it also sounds as if he had a very full life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We recently lost our gingy..Charlie...like you we have a cat and a dog but there's a huge hole left in our lives. He was such a super cat as they all are. The house is definitely different without him and the cat that is left has been particularly and OTT vocal since he's gone. He's just beginning to settle down a bit more but has become even more super needy. Its a whole family loss, that's for sure.

StrawberryFizz27 · 26/05/2023 14:45

Thank you @neilyoungismyhero
I'm sorry for you loss too. They really are such a large part of the family.

Bobs, his brother has been laying around the house in his non usual places and I heard him calling for him about 4.30am the other morning.

The kitten used to follow him everywhere and always be near him, he's not been at home as much. He's just come to my room so I'll get a nice cuddle with him.

I'm off work at the minute so haven't had to go into the office much, but seeing his empty bed up there the other day nearly broke me.

It's going to be a long adjustment for us all.

@Swissmrs she really is wonderful and like you say, it's nice to know he wasn't just loved by us but by everyone and anyone who met him.

I've messaged my local councillor today to see what the rules and regulations are on electric vehicles. This is going to be come more common and he was the most streetwise of the cats. I'd hate for any other family or cat to suffer in the way he had too.

It's so awful we have to go through this. The pain of grief is the cost of love I suppose.
