Help with grieving

We had to have our beautiful cat put to sleep on Saturday. It was really unexpected. She was only 5 but had a tumour.

We're all devastated but my DD14 is inconsolable. She was her constant companion. Slept on her bed every night and utterly doted on her. I don't know how to help her or what to say. She's so sad. Sleeping with one of the cat toys.

Tell me it gets easier?

This is her sitting on my lap as I work at my computer. And that's me away again.

What a sweet face.
Grief just takes time. Maybe get a nice photo of your puss framed so you have her image around you.
It's ok to feel sad and to cry. It hurts to lose a loved one.
Then, when you're ready, get another cat to love.

It gets easier, I promise.
It is heartbreaking and you will be in shock.
Just be very kind and gentle to yourselves and each other.
You had a precious companion for five years and no-one can take that away from you.

I'm so sorry 😞 we lost our first cat 2 years ago he was almost 3 and hit by a car. It really really hurts for the first week like I felt like I couldn't breathe through grief. But it does get easier, you will always miss them and they do leave a little hole in your life. Once we had the ashes back we felt like we had closure and could move on, we also had another cat so he helped us heal. Take it easy it is a really tough thing to go through.

Thank you. She really was a dear little thing. Still keep expecting her to come back through the cat flap. After a while because she still couldn't quite work it out.

I am so sorry OP, 😞 you must all be heartbroken I can only imagine our boy is treated like a baby by all of us so I can just imagine. What a beautiful cat. 💐

It really does get better. You will remember her and smile not cry. Getting another cat, was a massive help. Not as a replacement. But she filled the cat shaped hole. And have me something to focus on.
