Thank you to everyone for your kindness
Got the PM results back - vet rang tonight Reuben died of a very large kidney stone which totally blocked kidney and ureter, vet said he had build up of uric acid crystals and it’s possible the stress of Evie’s death combined with not eating/drinking properly because of that caused the stone to get big enough to cause his death there is nothing we could have done - if he had been a lone indoor cat the only symptom would have been noticing non use of litter tray
poor little thing! I miss him dreadfully
there will be more toxicology results in a few weeks but unlikely to show anything new
Vet and PM place were lovely and reassured me it was just one of those things that we couldn’t have prevented or known about
I had said to DS if he wasn’t any better I would ring vet at end of week which would’ve been a week after she died but it was too late by then

I'm so sorry reading this thread and your other thread, I'm sure your lovely cats knew they were very loved and had very happy lives x

Toddlerteaplease · 11/05/2023 22:27

That's so sad. But at least you have an answer.so sorry for both your losses.

bornintheuk2 · 11/05/2023 22:33

I'm so sorry about your loss, but now you know it will put your mind at rest

Pudmyboy · 12/05/2023 16:10

Thank you for your update and I hope having an answer helps you with your loss, especially knowing that there was no way you could have prevented it.
I know at one point you were worried about poisoning and though the sad loss remains I hope knowing it was natural causes has brought some sort of comfort 💐

How utterly heartbreaking, so very sorry.

TheSpottedZebra · 12/05/2023 16:22

Poor you and poor cats.
I'm glad that you have an answer of sorts, and that there was nothing else horrid going on.

It is clear how much you loved your cats, and it's also now clear how much Rueben loved Evie! What a lot of love.

Very best wishes.
