Katkin Food

Hi everyone, ongoing trauma of trying to wean my little pests off Royal Canin and have been recommended to try Katkin.

Does anyone use Katkin? Is it any good for fussy eaters? Do you have a referral code?

Already have two bags for life full of other brands to go to the rescue centre, bit wary as obviously cannot do that with fresh!!!

I couldn't get TemporaryCat to eat it. Tried a trial of various flavours and he went on a hunger strike Reluctantly ate some of the fish variety mixed with his old food but flatly refused to transition to eating it on it's own and even then would sometime turn his nose up at the mixed version. I gave up in the end, especially as he gets constipated easily and needs to eat wet food.

He is very fussy though and has refused a lot of wet food options. Like you I've had to give quite a lot away, including the remaining Katkin which is trickier given it's frozen.

On the other hand other people have said their cat scarfed it up immediately, no problem. Cats are contrary little buggers.

I did have a discount code but not sure it will still work as I cancelled the subscription but if I can find it will PM you.

Thank you! Bit put off by the apology they've issued on their site, so going to try Blink! instead

The hunger strike continues here, though one of them has just scarfed a baklava, so at least they won't starve 🤣

Katkin used to be a hit with my 3, but now they've changed the texture they don't like it as much

@HouseIsOnFire we have 4, different ages and breeds, all on katkin and eat every drop - their coats are glossy and they're all relatively calm and happy (considering it's a 4 cat house!)

It costs but I do think we save on vet costs as they're all fit as fiddles.

I can DM you a code (has name in) x

Good luck! I remember years ago, my landlady decided to economise and switched her cat from Whiskas to Katkin.
He refused it, and next morning she found a mouse’s head, neatly cut off behind the ears, in the middle of the hearth rug.
Next morning, there was another, in exactly the same place.
I think she lasted three days before she cracked and resumed the Whiskas.

I tried katkin on my bunch and 2 out of 4 liked it. However I hated it - it fills up your freezer and it’s just yucky to handle and smells weird. I’m a vegetarian though so maybe that explains it!

they do however sell this sprinkles mixture in a jar you can chuck on their food and all my cats loved those. I’d buy them again, just not the food.

Mine loves it. Eats every scrap. Then the dog wants to lick the bowl.

I have a code, if you want to try it?

HouseIsOnFire · 11/05/2023 22:21

Have I super misjudged whiskas!? I thought it was a cheaper brand, rather than raw feeding?

@ChampagneCommunist @colachive do your cats like it even with the new recipes?

Thank you for offers of codes, will PM you if Blink doesn't work out!

Yep, eats the lot. Complains as soon as I get through the door in the evening that her bowl is empty

colachive · 11/05/2023 23:21

@HouseIsOnFire @ChampagneCommunist yep they eat the lot but I have found them to be hungrier too (the new food is a bit mushy and easier to digest perhaps) and they now get very antsy if they're not fed on time. Upside is there's none left in the bowl so the house doesn't smell of cat food.
