Kitten/cat fighting

2 cats aged 10 months (female- neutered) and 18 weeks (male). Done a slow introduction and things seemed to be going well.

In the last week they have really ramped up the fighting and I don’t think that it is play fighting anymore.

At first it was more chasing and pouncing- both taking turns to chase. But now I think the kitten constantly harasses the older cat. She will be minding her own business cleaning herself and he will pounce on her. When they are chasing/fighting there is a lot of meowing from the older cat. Kitten doesn’t seem to be aware that she doesn’t want to play and won’t let up.

But then on the other hand they seem to be fine living together/no issues sharing things. There is 3 litter trays but they tend to just share 2 of them. They have separate food bowls but again will eat together. Plenty of water bowls dotted around the house. We have multiple cat trees and beds. A few scratching posts around the house. Loads of cardboard boxes and toys. Feliway plug in upstairs and downstairs. They will happily sit together or play separately. But then it seems if the younger one decides to pounce that’s it and they start.

Between the family we make sure both are given lots of individual attention and the kitten gets lots of playtime. Today I had spent 20 mins 1:1 playtime with the kitten- lots of ball throwing and playing with the feather stick. Kitten is then resting at the window calmly for 5 mins when cat comes into the room starts grooming herself and he immediately pounces on her.

Just looking for any advice to have this not escalate further.

Thanks.

Has the male cat been neutered?
