Wanting to rehome another so soon?

Our beloved boy went missing just over 3 weeks ago & we've been distraught (me & our second cat more so than husband) we've done everything, leaflets social media, searching but nothing.

We've had 3 calls about him but nothing he's disappeared & the not knowing what has happened has left me devastated & our other cat is like a lost soul.

Another beautiful boy has been found locally on one of the lost pet pages & is going up for rehoming today, I'm tempted to apply to rehome him. He would be in no way a replacement for our poor missing boy but he's gorgeous & we'd be delighted if our boy came home & we ended up with 3 cats.

Would this be a terrible idea as I have no idea how my cat who's been left home would take to it, him & missing cat were brothers we got together at 7 weeks so are so close. Anyone any experience of rehoming any adult cat with any already adult at home. He's 4 & pretty laid back.

I think I would leave it a little longer to see if your cat comes back.
Could you contact the other rescue and say you're interested though?
Cats can go AWOL for several weeks and come home safely.
In my experience, boy cats are more accepting of other cats.

If you are happy with the prospect of 3 Dcats then rehome the latest one 😺

Oh that's good to hear boy cats are a bit more accepting in your experience, he's a very relaxed boy!

I will definitely contact them & explain I'm interested & that it's only been 3 weeks. It's just so unlike him to disappear like this. Hoping he turns up but at same time I don't want to miss this wee cat who's going to be looking for a home. He's beautiful & the description says he's so affectionate!

Do you think your missing cat would tolerate another cat if he came home? If so then do it.,
