We have not been her subjects for very long but are very much enthralled... We are meant to be away for two weeks in the summer though, and I really don't like the idea of leaving her ... 🥺
She's an indoor cat.
Am I totally besozzled to explore taking her on hols ( normandy/brittany in france)

I wouldn't.

I hate leaving my cat so understand the impulse but wouldn't personally take them. You need a pet passport and animal health check. You might need rabies vaccination or it might only be dogs that do. My cat hates being in the car and I think would find the journey incredibly distressing.

Madness! Find yourself a good cattery or a trusted cat feeder/sitter. The cat will be just fine.

No. Not sure you can take pets to the EU since Brexit without a load of faff. In your place I'd get a cat sitter in eg https://catinaflat.co.uk/

No she won't like it at all , good cattery or cat sitter or do you have trusted friend who can move in and serve her lady ship?

onethingandonethingonly · 28/04/2023 09:29

Many are away during that time... but I'm sure we'll figure it out. She's been such an unexpected joy to us, it's hard to imagine her not being around for that long. But we must not be selfish...! I shall find my lady a good servant

We have friends who used to take they car on holiday. They last saw their last cat running out of Cambridge services and down the M11....

I have a friend who takes her cat on holiday and it's very happy. But it's a really short journey - a couple of hours. Also you're looking at £300+ to get her certificate and shots and worming before you bring her back to the U.K.

I'd think it's much less stressful for her to find a cat sitter.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/04/2023 10:26

Absolutely not worth the risk of loosing her. Find a lovely cattery.

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 28/04/2023 17:34

Our cat always comes on holiday with us and is very happy indeed about it, but that is to pet friendly cottages within our home country and less than a four hour drive. I can offer lots of advice about that, but not about taking a cat abroad.

Find a carry that will update you. Mine posts on Facebook are veery good with messaging if need be. My pair have a great time. One of the previous members of staff loved mine almost as much as I do. She'd spend hours with her.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/04/2023 08:33

The affection was mutual. I'd be completely ignored on drop off once she saw her aunty.
