How to get the effing cat into the effing box

My beautiful cat is terrified of any change and I have presented her with another one. I've bought one of those two-piece litter trays - the top bit is really there to create a higher wall, but it doesn't have a lid, and it has a little front doorway. It's part of a long term vision and corporate strategy to move her onto biodegradable litter, which in a normal height litter tray, she kicks over the house.
She will use the litter tray without the top piece (so essentially it's like a normal litter tray). Madam desists from using it with the top bit in place.
So far I have tried:
Leaving her to get on with it (DH's strategy)
Sitting next to litter tray and moving the litter around (so she understands that litter is inside) and making encouraging noises
Putting her in it (I know; rookie mistake; cue lots of shouting and sulking)
Any ideas?
