After losing Harry on 4th April we’ve really struggled with the emptiness and the cat shaped hole he’s left. He’s my soul cat and no one can ever replace him, but I believe he’s sent us a little furry friend.

Meet Eddie, he’s a 3 year old FIV+ boy who’s at the same rescue that Harry came from. We’ve been approved to adopt him and they’ve agreed to hold him until we’re back from holiday on 5th May.

Eddie follows the royal tradition - Harry, William and George were the last 3 cats between DM and I!

Eddie has been described as 'sunshine in cat form' by the rescue. He's also a lap cat which will be strange. That was one of my doubts - Harry could never be described as a lap cat and I was worried I'd be looking at Eddie wishing it was Harry on my lap.

We ended up weighing up Eddies pro's and cons and the only con was his FIV but we can deal with that. I am a bit nervous about having a young cat around but I'm sure we'll cope!

I do think it was meant to be - Eddie is from the same rescue as Harry and is being fostered in the same town. I do feel sorry for another cat from a different rescue that I said no to. He's gorgeous but apparently doesn't travel well so over 2 hours in the car wouldn't have been fair on any of us!

Stick up on sticky tape. Unfortunately Lakeland stoped doing sticki mitts.

I've not been on the Litter Tray much recently so I'm so sorry to read about your lovely Harry. They do leave a massive hole behind. Eddie looks very handsome and he won't replace Harry but he's another kitty who needs a safe and loving home. I've met a lot of FIV boys and despite their tough boy looks, they are often the biggest softies.

Thanks Vino. We knew it was coming but it was a huge shock when it happened as he'd dodged so many bullets over the years.

I'm looking forward to getting Eddie, I think he'll help us as much as we'll help him. I keep worrying about his FIV as it doesn't seem to be worth insuring him - there's not much of him left after the exclusions! Whatever happens we'll deal with it.

I look forward to hearing more about Eddie and his new home.

He's smiling in that photo, he knows he's found his new slaves staff.

I had a bit of a wobble again this morning, not about getting Eddie but getting any cat as I don't think I can love another cat like I love Harry. Then I got this from his foster mum...

I know I won't love him in the same way as Harry but how can I resist that little face?

He is adorable. He looks like my boy did when I adopted him. He’s a lot bigger now because I can’t, in fact, resist that face 😊.

GroovyGangConscript · 23/04/2023 20:44

No one could resist that face💖
