Barbara hissing and growling at Margo

They're sisters, both house cats, and usually get along well. I sat out in the sun having a cup of tea (so 10 mins max) and Margo sat on the grass, then chased a blackbird, then came in. Barbara has gone absolutely nuts for the 24 hours since! Hissing and growling at Margo, and a noise I have never heard before when I fed them! It happened a couple of times last year but I'd forgotten about it till it happened again. I reckon Margo smells different after being outside. I'm going to try Feliway, as I've a lot of work planned for the garden this year and don't want to cause a cat fight each time. Has anyone else ever encountered similar behaviour?

You are probably right its because of the smell. Could you rub a blanket that Barbara usually uses over Margo so she smells more like her, or even a dirty t-shirt of yours? Bit difficult as you would have to do it right on entering the house.

Otherwise dig up a patch of grass to bring indoors and plonk Barbara on it 😂

Try feliway but get the right one as one of them can make it worse. Or ask your vet if they use anything in their backroom where cats waiting for ops stay. Think mine used pet rescue.

Love their names!
Does sound like you should have called Barbara > Margot & Margot > Barbara.
Then I think it would all make sense!

When they're happy in the house the names are right! Barbara just goes all Jekyll and Hyde if Margo dares to go out.

Can't help but I love the names. We have a hen called Margot.
