Hi. Has anyone ever had a cat that has required an operation for this? How much did it cost and how was recovery? Did they require another one down the line? Ty

Working in a rescue this is a fairly frequent operation. I've also had it performed on a couple of my cats. I can't tell you anything about cost. Generally speaking, once it's done, it's done. Sometimes not enough is taken to resolve the problem and a second op will be needed. This is quite rare but does happen. But better that than have too much taken, as once the skin is gone that's it, so vets need to approach it conservatively.

My cat had this in both eyes and surgery on both.
Each op cost around £1000.
A big cost but thankfully got most of it back with my insurance.
No issues since

Sorry recover was a few weeks. The main issue was the cone which my cat hated with a passion

If a cat has already had one op already in rescue and needed another, insurance wouldn't cover it would it as it's already happened before?

It's hard to know. How long since the first operation? Did the operation not resolve it adequately? Have you spoken to the rescue about it?

Operation went fine. They say it's because he's a young cat he might need another in the future.

My insurance covered both because they were different eyes. They did question if it was pre existing but the vet told them that condition does not necessarily affect both eyes.

If it was the same eye I would not have been able to claim again
