Advice on kitten food please

We’ve got a rescue kitten who’s 8 months old. He’s an indoor cat. Can anyone recommend a good but not hideously expensive kitten food? He has been eating whiskas in jelly but I’m aware it’s not the best for him. My husband has bought some webbox which is grain free but doesn’t seem to have much meat in it, mostly animal derivatives (what is that?). What should I be looking for in kitten/cat food? Help a new cat mum out please 🙏🏼

Mine liked Nature's Menu. Zooplus website has a decent range of various brands.

Thank you. I’ll have a look

You need Zooplus! Mine liked Feringa.

Mine are on whiskas. Since 5 weeks now 3 years. They love it. It's fine for them

When you change food, phase it in over several meals, I also offered small amounts of cooked fish or chicken too.

You want something grain free, and with as much meat as possible.

It may sound nice that it's 'made with tasty herbs and sweet potato ' but cats don't actually eat veg. They are just put in as cheap filler and to appeal to humans.

ButterflyBitch · 12/04/2023 19:36

Thanks everyone. So more meat, less veg.

Try Arden grange dry, it’s very high in protein. They do a kitten kibble.

Pets at Home's own brand, Seriously Good Bistro, is really good - grain free, all meat, not enormously expensive, and they do a kitten-specific version. My boy loves it.
