I think the one person TC can be his true, authentic self with is that woman down the road who think's he a cute little pussy cat. He can be himself down the road.

I agree - it does sound as though TC needs a safe space to be his authentic self without expectations of what a cat should do placed upon him.

Well Mrs Grumpy has just been next door to let the dogs out and TC was apparently delightful company, I'm sure that was nothing to do with Mrs Grumpy succumbing to his demands for Dreamies.
She's now back and Basil is reminding her of her real duties.

I think he needs some affirming, cat-centred therapy to talk through his anxieties. His violent attacks clearly reflect an inner vulnerability

I can only apologise for his behaviour and hope Basil will recover soon from his anxiety
