I think I've created a rod for my own back.

Snorg has lost a lot of weight since her eye issues. (Bloods fine and she's ok in her self) so asked the cattery to try them on some high meat content food. Apparently they love James Welbeloved. This is going to cost me a fortune isn't it?!!

More than likely 😼

Have you tried chicken livers? Asbo wouldn’t eat them but Puddy goes literally mental for them.

Florissant · 07/04/2023 08:26

Get ready to take out a second mortgage...

Allergictoironing · 07/04/2023 09:47

Could be a LOT worse, I'm sure we've discussed the price of renal food before!

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/04/2023 09:49

Interesting. Never tried it for the cats but our dog used to have the doggy version and it wasn’t expensive.

Blueuggboots · 07/04/2023 09:54

I feed my cats raw. It costs about £30/month. They don't have biscuits/kibble etc, just meat.

I love the cat names on this thread.

Can I hijack and ask what you give them? Mine isn't terribly interested in most meat, but loves gravy. Doesn't even like liver which previous cats would die for.

Blueuggboots · 07/04/2023 10:28

I feed them mainly chicken meat, ready prepared from a raw supplier called Charlie & Co.

I started them on Bella and Duke as they do a cheap trial pack but it’s very expensive with them.

the stuff I use comes in large sausage shaped rolls which are frozen. You defrost it and chop the end off the plastic roll and squeeze it out.

Isheabastard · 07/04/2023 10:33

When I’ve had cats before and find myself thinking about the cost of their food, I just think about how much it costs to feed me.

I then think about the pleasure they bring to my life and usually I realise that they are really quite cheap to feed in comparison.

I try this tactic with vet bills, doesn’t always work though.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2023 12:02

@Isheabastard I wish mine were cheap to run. Although they are pretty cheap to feed. The insurance premium is £118 a month. And the vet health plan and extra £30 for both of them.
Not sure why I posted a pic of Cheddar. When the thread is for Magics/Snorgs benefit!
Actually managed to get some nice pics of her face.

It'll cost you a fortune because you'll stock up and they'll promptly go off it.

If you have a Jolleys near you you can sign up to their club for free and each month you get a discount. This month is 15% off.

Blueuggboots · 07/04/2023 14:01

@DiDonk - are you taking "meat" like tinned stuff or actual meat?

My cats were already raw fed when I got them so don't know any difference but a lot of what is meant to meat in tins isn't...

Yes actual meat. All my past cats have gone nuts for chicken and rabbit liver, this one leaves it. Indifferent to chicken and fish, except pilchards in tomato which have become quite dear.

Quite likes to lick bolognaise off the dishwasher door but otherwise actually prefers crunchies (only the expensive ones naturally). Really likes cheese, cream and yoghurt as mostly forbidden.

Will only drink water from the shower pan so really what can you do!

Blueuggboots · 07/04/2023 14:34

Have you tried a fountain?
the place I get my food from sells rolls from £1 so it wouldn’t break the bank to try one or two?
or Bella and duke’s trial pack?

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2023 21:57

Magic is very partial to steak!

Picked them up
From the cattery this morning. Magic in a bad mood as had to have a bum clean. As it appears JW doesn't agree with her after all.
