Maine coon kittens pick up

I have a choice between collecting at 12 weeks 5 days or 13 weeks 5 days.
It’s tempting to go for the earlier date due to excitement but would the extra week with mum be the best thing for them?

Mum might be starting to get sick of them at nearly 14 weeks?

humblemeep · 01/04/2023 09:10

I think they'll be fine leaving their mum at just over 12 weeks.

12 weeks will be absolutely fine! We’re going to need cute fluffy kitten photos btw Grin

I'd say even 12 weeks and 5 days is a bit late - mum will be throughly sick of them by almost 14 weeks Grin

I think we need a photo to help us decide?

It's important to get an hcm test. Langford near Bristol can do it for about 20 pounds per animal. If your animals are susceptible, they tend to die within five years. I used to have a Siamese that had a heart problem which was soul breaking. I have two Maine coons and got them tested before agreeing to purchase.
I have a sibling who is a veterinarian who advised me on this.

Quick Summary Cats affected by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy are at risk of sudden cardiac death. In Maine Coons, a breed-specific mutation has been found to be associated with increased risk for HCM.
