Will I need to put a second chip into my cat?

Toots was microchipped when she was spayed 6 years ago.

Ive long lost the paperwork in a load of boxes somewhere, but when I checked on the pet log website, both of my dogs appear on there but the cat doesn’t.

I don’t have her number anywhere. Would the vet have it on record or do I need to accept she will have to be chipped again.

If you know the chip company (seems as if you do) you could phone them and give them your details, ask if they have your cat registered.

The vet might have the details. Otherwise have her scanned, the number will come up on the scanner. I know this because I have a scanner but the vet could tell you what it is.

You need to register it yourself these days, I seem to recall it was done automatically the first time we had it done, might depend on the vet though.

Petlog have had issues of chips not registering but I don't think it has happened recently.

I think my issue was I assumed it was automatically registered and it wasn’t but I can’t really remember. It was 6 years ago.

I do need to take her to the vet soon, so I’ll get them to scan her and get the number

Petlog can be a pain, they seem to have been trained to be difficult.

Is this any help? Just went to check about the non-working chips issue and found it. Petlog upgraded their site so maybe why it's not working for you.

Not really. I think it’s purely, the chip wasn’t registered.

You just need to get her scanned then you can register the chip yourself. There is are a few chip finder websites which will tell you which company it's with. Then you just need to contact them.

I know which company it’s with. It’s the same one my dogs are registered with. Just don’t have the number. But like I said, she needs to go to the vet soon anyway, so I’ll get her scanned and get her number again

I’ve managed to get the chip number! Hooray. However I can’t work out how to put it on to my account. I’ve sent off a form to the company though so I’m hoping they can help
