Feeding advice needed please!

Harry has to have 6 different medications for his heart, kidneys and arthritis. We're lucky they can all go in his food together but he's always been a fussy eater and giving him the right food is a bit of a challenge!

At the moment he's having a pouch for breakfast with all his meds but ideally the frusemide for his heart should be in 2 doses. Unfortunately he won't eat a second pouch for dinner, only biscuits, so he's having a single dose. He's also only getting half the Ipakitine for his kidneys which isn't ideal.

I seem to have found something that meets his requirements (at the moment) but it's a complementary food. Would he be ok having this if he has a complete pouch for breakfast, complete biscuits for lunch and to graze on during the night?

Here's a picture of the man himself - 18 years old!

I was told that as long as the majority of their food was "complete", then feeding only supplementary as well was fine. Can't remember the exact percentages, but I think it was something like 50-70% should be complete. The example I was given at the time was for mixed feed, as long as they had plenty of dry then 1 meal of complete wet and a second meal of non-complete (either supplementary or human type food like tinned tuna) should be fine.

I think this vet told my friend (while I was listening) that she could replace 1 meal a day with something like cat soup (not usually complete) or the aforementioned tuna with no problems.

But TBH bearing in mind that Harry isn't exactly a kitten, and he does have a number of health problems, getting enough food & meds in is probably a priority.

And thank you for the pin up picture, what a handsome guy he is and posing for his fans there 😻

Thanks @Allergictoironing. You're right about the main thing being to make sure he eats. He's having tuna cat food every meal now which I've read isn't great but him not having his meds would be worse. He's always been a diva but he's taken it to a new level in his old age! A pouch, breakfast and a complimentary food would probably be OK and make him happy!

He does like to pose, especially in his bed. DH tried to plump up the cushion and get rid of some of the fur in it but my god did Harry get the arse!
