Anyone Else's Cat Going Bonkers!!!!

Hi Mumsnetters, it seems as though every time this year my cat Gizmo starts going bonkers with early morning zoomies and howling at her cat flap to go out. She is an 11 year old big fat tabby who is spayed but through March and April reverts to a psycho kitten. Her cat flap is locked between 6pm and 6am and she starts meowing and zooming about 4am! Cat tax for post

All of ours have always gone mad as spring started. I love it : )

The Spring crazies! I work at a cattery and lots of them are feeling the Spring! It's adorable!

Scalottia · 16/03/2023 11:35

Also, Gizmo is a cutie!

Dancingfairydreams · 16/03/2023 11:51

Yep! Begging to go out super early, think its the birds, then going crazy zommies till about 11. Sleeping till about 4...then repeat.

Would Gizmo like a tabby boyfriend?

We also have a Gizmo, a calico, who is approx 12 years old and she is being a right flirt in the garden with the boy cats! It's quite embarrassing really. She is done so no worries there. Spring is definitely in the air🌱

Her cat flap is shut overnight too but she is usually quite quiet. Though saying that, my dd said she heard a noise a few nights ago (she sleeps downstairs) and found the cat playing with her pot of toys!

@Dancingfairydreams He's very handsome I'm sure she would!!

I’ve never realised the pattern before but I was complaining to DH just yesterday that the cat has been going nuts the last few days.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/03/2023 16:06

Yep. Cheddar is very full on at the minute. Demanding cuddles and to be picked up, when I'm trying to get ready for work.

Forever42 · 16/03/2023 16:08

Mine has actually been out in the garden. She's extremely lazy so this is the equivalent of crazy energetic behaviour for her. I swear she almost completely hibernates over the winter.

Bagpuss1200 · 17/03/2023 12:30

It's so much fun to watch. Full on zoomies first thing this morning, followed by mum chase me! I love it!

I've only had cats since last summer but they are definitely being full on this week. The ginger is on max volume and the normally silent black shadow is joining in 😂

gamerchick · 17/03/2023 12:37

Definitely a spring thing. Mines driving me mad as well.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 17/03/2023 12:51

No, she is still a powder puff on legs.

Previous Bengal boy would be chipper right now though, all those new nests to explore and baby animals with no awareness all over the place.

Kittensat36 · 18/03/2023 09:30

Yes, my two have been much more into "catting" - zoomies and punch-ups in the hall. They loved it yesterday because the back door was open so they could come and go as they pleased.

KnittedCardi · 18/03/2023 12:04

Yeah, and an increasing number of mice being brought in - Sigh

SkankingWombat · 18/03/2023 12:14

Yes, our 13yo has reverted to a nutsoid zooming kitten again. She gets so hyper she freaks herself out the little furry weirdo
