Recommend me a brush please

...for my short haired, bad tempered cat who will happily disembowel anyone who tries to brush her!

She's moulting badly and needs a good brush. Can anyone recommend me one? I've tried the mitten - she hates it!

Groomi! Both my short and my long haired girls hate being brushed but will purr and snuggle up and roll around for the weird little pink comb thing. I was incredibly dubious when a friend suggested it but am a convert. I've tried everything from a mitt to a rubber brush to a soft brush to a furminator and this is the only one they tolerate - and seem to quite like, weirdly!

I bought many different brushes for my little tabby and she hated them all.

One day I bought a small brush for rabbits and she loved it. Would purr so much she dribbled 😂

It looks like this one but we bought it from the vets for a fraction of the price. It left the outer coat but groomed the loose underfur and dirt out

Zoom groom or a tangle teaser.

Zoom Groom, the purple one, don't get a rip off one they are usually too hard.

We use a Kong massage brush. Our cat loves it!

Furminator. All three of our short haired cats have absolutely loved it, having really disliked other brushes. All three hated the zoom groom I’m afraid!

A Furminator is for de-shedding and has to be used carefully. Too much and you get a very thin patch of fur or a scrawny looking cat. And as for nipples....

A Zoom Groom is more gentle and relaxing. I use both. I sometimes find reluctance with the Furminator but not the Zoom Groom which has been used on many cats and they have all been happy with it.

Another vote for Zoom Groom, purple silicon. Both of ours are now possibly slightly addicted....

Sounds like my cats are weirdos for not liking the zoom groom. But they are lovely little weirdos in many ways :)

My long haired cat has 2 brushes like the rabbit grooming one linked. She LOVES being brushed - I can actually use it as a treat it's that good.
Start really slowly. Just let them sniff the brush (give Dreamies) then one brush (Dreamies). Leave 24 hrs. Brush twice (Dreamies) etc..
Mine loves it so much that I hold one brush out and she rubs her face on it while I quickly skim across the rest of her. Too much brushing makes her a bit wild though, it's like the rush from cat nip.
She didn't like the zoom groom at all. I think perhaps because her fur is so fine it pulled and hurt a bit. The ones we use with all the little metal prongs seem gentler on knots too.

I used a brush from Primark. A knock off tangle teezer basically. Girl cat absolutely loves it but won't tolerate an actual cat brush. She comes running when I hold it up to show her and she gets her hair brushed every night.

A soft hair brush like a babies or a dolls hair brush has worked.
