On Obie who-no-longer-lives-with-me.
Humph!

Those who have been here forever will know I had in theory, two Maine Coons. Obie the magnificent ginger boy and his sister Ophelia. Ophie we sadly lost to a sudden aggressive cancer exactly a year ago.
Obie, buggered off to my retired Thai neighbour's 5 years ago, when Ophie decided she hated him. He pops back every few days for a quick chat, then goes back to Thelma and his own chaise longue (no I'm not joking !)

Only last week I noticed he was eating noisily when he popped over... so booked a vet appointment with view to dental treatment if needed. Thelma starved him for me and off we went this morning. Good call as he had a rotten back tooth, so one extraction , a deep clean and a groom while he was out cold.

He was not grateful.
He's still beautiful though... all 9.6kg of him!!!

He's utterly beautiful and I daresay worth every penny. Maybe get him into modelling and he can pay you back in installments!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/03/2023 00:02

He was not grateful

So you starved him
The Vet anaethesised him , removed a tooth, gave im a dental clean then groomed him .
And you expect GRATITUDE ?

.My two mini panthers think you should sit down somewhere quiet and Think About What You Have Done

He is a gorgeous boy .
Is he just parked in the nastursiums or having a pee?
Wink

Fair point!!! And he is just parked there... probably contemplating the pond... the pond into which he has plummeted several times from the fence. He's large, and not especially bright or well coordinated.

He is infamous down our street, as even before he dumped me he liked to go into all the neighbours houses, have a snooze on their beds, eat their cat food...

He once got wedged in (another) neighbours cat flap. Being a nearly 10kg lump, trying to sneak through a small cat flap. Luckily those neighbours also love him, and having freed him, sent me a pic of him curled up on their bed!!!!

He probably won't visit me for days now, but will be being consoled on elderly Thai lady's pillow... Grin

We tried to catch our two for their vaccines today ....
Managed to catch Female (amazed 'cos she's not afraid to give us a good swipe if she thinks we deserve it ie breathe )
The Male was snoozing on a dining room chair , he won;t et me within a yard of him so I asked DD to catch him , then we tried to wrestle him into the carrier .
Long story short , he buggered off down the side of the washing machine (he can open the utility door , I'll need a lock on it)

So one cat to the Vet , he's got a new appointment .

Good job we love the ratbags

StillMedusa · 11/03/2023 00:26

Indeed! I'm currently staring at a fat grey cat who, having been a poor thin abandoned cat (bastards) on our street for years, fed by all of us, moved in with me 2 years ago.
He loves me. He bites me (antibiotics needed last xmas!) and he beats up my poor dog.
And yet here we are, and he will probably be sleeping on my pillow shortly!

Lovely to see a pic of Obie again and see he's doing OK, he is such a handsome chap.

Presumably the next big bill for the cat who divorced you will be his summer clip?

Toddlerteaplease · 11/03/2023 09:52

I think I'd be sending the bill to Thelma since she made no attempt to dissuade him from your house!

Bunnyishotandcross · 11/03/2023 09:54

Op you lie. That is no dcat. It's a dtiger!

StillMedusa · 11/03/2023 10:39

We clip him ourselves now... I got fed up of being charged £300 for him to look dreadful when I could do it for free Grin
So every 3 or 4 months I go round, grab him and we wrap him in a towel.. do the rear end (which he refuses to let anyone groom) and then reverse him and do armpits and any other knotty areas. I won't lie.. it's not a designer cut, but it grows quickly and he's much more comfortable. In between, as now, he looks quite presentable!

By the time we have finished DH and I look like ginger Honey Monsters... we are literally covered from head to foot!

Jesus he's huge! He's heavier then my French bulldog,he's gorgeous OP
He reminds me of my childhood cat who we found abandoned in a lift.
He was such a gentle boy but buggered off when we took in my brothers cat, who I kid you not used to fight with foxes.
Cats really are a law unto themselves.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/03/2023 12:55

I clip magic in between grooms. I am no hairdresser though!
