Bloody cats!

So this morning i was woken up to Tasha jumping on the bed and playing with something. She quite often wakes me up by bringing me a toy so didnt think much of it until i noticed she was playing rather vigorously...

The 'toy' jumped onto the floor and Tasha chased. So i turned on the light and noticed there were feathers everywhere.... 🙈

At this point the 'toy' has now gone under the bed and is staying put, Tasha cant reach it. So ive removed tasha from the room.and closed the door, opened the window, and my plan is to leave it for DP to come home to deal with it... 😐

Isnt it too early for catching birds??

This is literally my worst nightmare. So glad my Persians care to thick to hunt!

I’ve known Persians who can hunt!

Nah, birds under beds are fine. Rats, though... <shudder>

I shut mine in at night after one of them was playing with a dead mouse on my bed at 2am and got blood all on the sheets. They also bring things in alive then 'lose' them so I prefer to accost them at the catflap in person to check.

Can you open a window for it to fly out when it's calmed down?

whoruntheworldgirls · 02/03/2023 11:11

Sorry just re-read you have the window open Smile

We had a stray cat hanging around one winter. We left the downstairs bathroom window open for it to come in somewhere sheltered at night (trying to get its trust so I could catch it and take to a vets for scanning). Ungrateful fucker brought a rat in for a play one night. Nearly died of horror when I opened the door to find them both staring at me!

So i sneaked a look and the bird is out from under the bed, and is just standing on the floor. Window is still open so now i know its not dead, im hoping that it will continue to perk up and fly away.

And tasha has annoyingly quickly forgotten about her catch, and is sleeping soundly. While her poor brother who normally spends the day sleeping on the bed is very annoyed that he isnt allowed in the bedroom...

Dp should be home at around 6pm tonight, hopefuly its flown off by then...!

I don't suppose it was at least dead?

No, very perky, and very fast. The cat legged it out if the window and I threw a towel on the rat and hooked the whole lot out of the window. I got a lot sneakier in my attempts to cage the cat after that. She was at the vets and scanned within a fortnight. Really didn’t want to have a repeat of the rat. Thankfully she was chipped and had an owner who was missing her (I’m assuming she’d never brought him a rat before she got herself lost….).

Hope your little bird made its escape op.
