I know no one can know and I’m probably just needing a wee hand hold but I thought I’d ask if anyone had any experience of this.
Our 15 year old cat has had 3 episodes of blood in her urine since August last year. The last time was Friday just past. She is obviously in pain and tries to wee lots, strains, and licks the area a lot.
When we took her to the vets the first time they said it could just be a UTI, gave her antibiotics and anti inflammatory/painkillers and she perked up almost right away. The second time, the vet said the same thing and gave the same treatment which worked quickly again. On Friday when I took her up the vet said it was unusual for a female cat to have so many UTIs in a short space of time, didn’t give antibiotics as it wouldn’t be good for her but said to use the anti inflammatory/pain killer. She also said that I should bring her back today if she wasn’t any better.
She is much better (and got better very quickly again after some of the medicine) so I rang the vet to cancel the appointment. It’s on her notes that she’s to go for a sedate and scan ‘sooner rather than later’ to hopefully find an underlying cause. She’s booked in to be dropped off on Thursday morning.
I’m really worried about what they could find, and what the procedure involves, does anyone have any experience of it that maybe had a reasonable outcome. As well as just being outright adorable she was my late MIL’s cat and she’s the last link to MIL. I think my DH might be devastated is anything was to happen to her. I know it’s inevitable at some point, and we’ll deal with it if it does.
Any good thoughts would be appreciated
