spay incision - normal or not?

hi there. my cat was spayed on wednesday and these pictures were taken today (sunday morning) from the side, as her incision looks a bit odd from the side in my opinion. sort of overlapping and quite red. i think its looked the same pretty much since she came home. the vet saw her on thursday and said it looks fine, but she’s my first cat and i’m anxiety prone so i’m worried about absolutely everything. would you be worried?

I was picking my new boy up from the rescue yesterday, and they'd had quite a few of the rescued females spayed during the week so I saw a few! Yours looks fine, very nice progress for a few days 😀

May not be the tidiest wound but not overly concerning. Doesn't look infected. Is she otherwise well in herself? Eating etc? Has she been rested and wearing the vest to avoid licking?
Are you in the UK? Midline cat spay is not usually first choice - was she pregnant or have some other reason that may cause you extra concern? If you're worried, call your vet though, as they know her history better than some random on here.
She's beautiful, by the way.

thank you so much for your reply. that’s really comforting to hear and i hope your new kitty settles in well!

i am in the uk yes. not sure why they chose her tummy, they didn’t mention anything and there was no possibility for her to be pregnant as she’s a house cat. she is eating, using her tray etc, sleeping quite a lot but i think that’s boredom due to me removing all her toys. i’ve introduced a few back and she’s a little bit interested in them but not massively. the vest is to avoid licking at it, yes. will i be alright to call the vet tomorrow do you think? they’re closed today and i don’t want to waste emergency vet time if she’s alright and im just panicking for nothing!

Looks good to me OP. I'm a vet.
The picture isn't very clear though. Any chance of a better, straight on picture with nothing in the way?

(p.s. Flank spays might be most common but some vet surgeons do prefer to do midline, and also that's the technique taught in some vet schools. Nothing to worry about and makes no difference to the cat.)

@Mmmmpavlova will try that for you now. for some reason when the picture uploaded the quality dropped quite a lot. the wound looks fine straight on but odd at the side, hence the angle of the picture but i will do my best at a better picture for you!

@Mmmmpavlova best i can do at the moment. should i be concerned by the yellow/brownness at the top?

Honestly it looks fine. Maybe the smallest bit of crustiness at the top which still wouldn't worry me.

Continue to keep an eye on it over the next few days in case anything changes. Discharge or swelling would be more worrying. Or if she becomes off form (not eating, suddenly lethargic)

@Mmmmpavlova i appreciate your help, thanks and i will keep an eye on her! you’ll no doubt come across me on here again as i am an absolute worry wart. 😅
