Two lovely kittens - advice

We have adopted two 7 month old girls from a rescue. They had a hard start in life and are nervous and anxious. One less so than the other. They came on Monday.

They are eating well, settling in, etc. However, they are in the utility/boot room. All good, all safe - who knew there was a gap between the washing machine and under sink cupboard. But they get in and out, come out for food and their littler tray. The bolder one is scampering into the family room (closed off from rest of house at present). The very shy one less so although is now venturing into the cat basket with her sister. They clearly come out to play at night judging by shoes off racks and cards off windowsills.

But the conundrum. As comfy as they are at this settling in stage - I need to put on the washing machine. Will it freak them out or should I go to the laundrette.

Advice welcome.

Aw they sound adorable. I can imagine they will be hugely freaked out by the washing machine and will have nowhere to go to get away from it (especially the spin cycle). Any chance you could move them to a different room for a while?

Trail of dreamies into another room?

Obstackle · 17/02/2023 08:41

Lol at the 'trail of dreamies '. I've got our boys trained up like the sheep in Babe. Shake the packet and I can move them wherever I want 😂

They have full access to the family room just not the rest of the house. One is starting to go in there, the other not. I think I may try to find a launderette this weekend.

Try the Dreamies! You sound so kind considering having to go to the launderette, I doubt it's necessary, coax them away with Dreamies bung washing in shut the door, they'll adapt I think.
And - cat tax! Pic please pretty please.

I think I'd be letting them out into the rest of the house now. If they are settling well.

I'd go to laundrette and give them another week to acclimate.
