3 babies!

My Dad, who has always been a dog person, ended up with a cat a few years ago after he randomly decided they were the perfect people to live with. My Dad done all the right stuff after the cat walked in to their house, had him checked for a chip etc (no chip) Turned out his owners had moved and left him behind, poor baby. Anyway, the poor love had FIV and became really unwell so my Dad had to have him PTS. He wouldn't talk to me for a week because he was so sad.
Anyway, since then he keeps saying 'we're thinking we might get two kittens'
Two weeks ago a post from Celia Hammond popped up on FB and I tagged him in it. A mum and her two babies.
To cut a long story short, he's on his way to pick all three of them up now! Mum is only a year old and the babies are 15 weeks, so he's essentially getting 3 kittens today! If you follow Celia Hammond you will know the cats I'm talking about.
I'm so excited for them! I have two myself and they're the most joyful animals anyone can have ♥️
My Dad has spent a fortune getting everything ready for these beautiful babies and they will have the best life!
Just wanted to share this 😂

Hooray! Lovely good news story, thank you for sharing. I hope your dad and his 3 new overlords are very happy 😀

Awww that’s lovely. Erm we will need cat tax when they arrive, OP, although I’m off to look at Celia Hammond’s page now.

I got the most beautiful wonderful cat from CH years ago. Gone but never forgotten.

ambu75 · 28/01/2023 11:33

This is so outing. My Dad has posted about getting them and tagged me in it 🙈 oh well, anything for furry babies 😂 might have to name change after this!

3 babies!

Oh my they are gorgeous. I have two 6 month old Kittens That we had since 8 weeks old and it's been hard work at times. I would definitely recommend have at least two large litter trays as one won't be enough.

NameChangeToVent · 28/01/2023 11:59

Oh my gosh they are amazing! Worth the name change. They are so beautiful, love a ginger cat. My CH cat was a long haired ginger girl, unusual and very lovely. I’m very jealous of your Dad having such beautiful babies in his life (although my two are very lovely and will get jealous of me looking at other cats on the interwebs).

Is it mum and a boy and girl baby?

He has got two litter trays. They have three floors so plan to have a litter tray on two of them. I got my two at 8 weeks old, they'll be three in April, and even though they were hard work for a bit (totally ruined our leather dining chairs!) I wouldn't change them for anything! My Dad has spent the last two weeks getting everything ready, he's definitely prepared. We used to joke with his last cat that he was leaving his inheritance to him, he never denied this 😂 these cats are going to be so loved 😁

One of the kittens lost half his tail as a newborn so that will help with which one is which ❤

Your df must feel like a Lotto winner right now! Congratulations on your furry siblings op!
You do know your Christmas list has diminished now don't you?

😂 I'm happy with his money being spent on them! Will hopefully go and meet them in the next couple of weeks. My Dad was getting a bit stressed, but he hasn't stopped talking about them so I know he's secretly been very excited! Will have a video call with him later, expect he'll tell me not to talk too loud so we don't upset them 😂

EmpressaurusOfWitchesBackFromTheDead · 28/01/2023 12:32

Gorgeous, and very lucky to have found a home. Your dad is going to get them all neutered as soon as possible isn’t he?

Asking because the rescue I volunteer with seems to be overwhelmed with young mums and kittens at the moment because of irresponsible idiots who couldn’t be bothered to do the right thing.

Florissant · 28/01/2023 12:37

I am smiling ear-to-ear at the news, OP. What a great result: three cats housed together. May your father and his new clowder have a long and happy tiime together.

CH has already neutered Mum and one of the babies. The other one hasn't been done yet because he was a bit behind his brother and wasn't ready (In CH words, his balls weren't showing 😂) Their policy is not to let a cat go unless its neutered and vaccinated. My Dad has already arranged to get him done at his local vets as soon as possible. I have a brother and sister pair and had them done as soon as I could. Totally agree that some people are irresponsible, luckily we're not like that.

3 orange cats? Brave GrinGrin

Ludo19 · 28/01/2023 13:24

Gorgeous OP and very unusual to have a solid ginger girl. Your dad sounds a fantastic man. I'm so happy for him 💓

ambu75 · 28/01/2023 14:07

They're home! He's already sent me a video of Mum and one kitten exploring. (Kitten has also had some food already, so is clearly unfazed 😁) The other one is a bit wary, but has had a look around. He has lots of shelves in his living room and the cats are fascinated by them. Told him he might want to move some of his more important ornaments 😂

These 3 are gorgeous!

Just a word of advice though. We have 2 sibling cats that are about 7-8 years old now.. when they were about 1 their mum had given birth to another litter and their owner dumped the whole litter on us, never to return again. We were due to get our female neutered because heat had kicked in a little late and her brother was already done but we couldnt take her non stop meowing anymore!

anyway we booked her in and all was fine at first except when she came home she clearly wasnt right. While there she had contracted Cat Flu which she brought home to all her other brother and sisters! Cat flu is like the herpies virus and once its in the system it wont ever go!

on top of that her surgery sight was meant to have dissolvable stitches but they somehow knotted up causing a ball on the inside so she needed taking back in to undo the stitches.

we nearly lost her due to the cat flu as she stopped eating and drinking and we had to spend over 6 weeks taking them all there every day for IM antibiotics and for our female, subcut fluids (lots of) and supplemental feeds as they were getting so sick!

It wasnt until after the many visits for treatments we noticed just how bad cross contamination was there! Our female cat is one of those that will brain wash you into taking her out and stroking her and dropping on the floor for tummy rubs and all sorts, thing is the place wasnt clean enough for those sort of things and she should only of been taken out of the carrier when her time came and placed back after.

Sometimes these places can be a little over loving and it can have disastrous effects in the long run.. our cats are now only allowed to be indoor cats and cant mix with others due to the nature of their illness and the worst part is that if celia takes them in for treatment they dont bother to ask if they have any contagious illnesses that could put the others at risk!

safe to say we never went back to her after the spay and neutering (which we only done as she insisted they have it before getting vaccinated!)

They are a good place to rescue cats/dogs but i wouldnt get treatment from them (our cats cant even be insured now because of it).

That sounds awful. These three have been with a Foster family since October, so not actually at the shelter. They were only returned there for my Dad to collect them this morning. He's also planning on using his own vets for anything needed as its closer to them.
More videos - all three eating and playing happily!
