Cost of biopsy

Hi

My cat is 2 and has what feels like a fatty lump on his back/ between shoulder blades.

He is due at the vet tomorrow and I suspect they will want to take a biopsy ( as I have read elsewhere)

Does anyone know what cost to expect for this please?

A few years back, I was quoted £180.00 to remove a lump from my cat, and dispose of it, or it could be removed and biopsied for £600.00.

£600 eek!

They may mean a fine needle aspirate biopsy - this is where the vet puts a small needle in it to take a sample of the cells. It can be done in the consultation and usually costs £25-£50 if the vets are looking at it in house under the microscope. If they prefer to send it to an external lab the cost might be £100 or more.
