We are adopting a beautiful rescue cat on Tuesday, but would like to rename her. She's currently Tilly, but for various reasons we would prefer not to keep it.

She's 9 months old and was brought to the rescue centre as her owners couldn't afford vet bills for vaccinations and neutering. She will be joining big our 7 year old cat called Lucy, but we would prefer a name that doesn't end in 'e' sound.

What would you call her?

Bluebell

Riverlee · 21/01/2023 09:14

Can we have a picture?

Enko · 21/01/2023 09:14

Mandu. So you gave Cat Mandu

HowManyMoreTimes · 21/01/2023 09:16

Argh, the photo didn't attach! I'll try again, but she's a silver tabby...

Do you want another ‘human’ name to go with Lucy, or something different?

HowManyMoreTimes · 21/01/2023 09:17

Ooh, laughing at Mandy. I'll try and sell that to the kids!

Hopefully photos will load now, on the laptop!

Loving Mandu, (flipping autocorrect!) but otherwise open to all names. Lucy was Lucinda in the rescue centre, and we didn't ever find anything we could all agree on so it stuck.

She's really sweet and gentle, but gives lots of head butts, and really loves a fuss

What about Cleo as she's got cleopatra eyeliner?

Longwhiskers · 21/01/2023 09:38

Does she know her name? Mine learnt theirs pretty early on. If so maybe you could find a name similar that rhymes with her old one like Milly?

we had a similar looking cat called mishmish which means little apricot.

Mydogatemypurse · 21/01/2023 09:39

Aw she's gorgeous. Nancy and Chloe are our cats names. But both e sounds.
She looks like a Mabel or Maeve. I like the name Estelle too.

Clarich007 · 21/01/2023 10:29

Willow? My cats were Cassie and Ellie. But both E sounds

Riverlee · 21/01/2023 14:06

She lovely.

Felicity was the first name that came to my mind.

Riverlee · 21/01/2023 14:06

But doesn’t fit your criteria.

HowManyMoreTimes · 22/01/2023 14:23

I love Cleo and Willow, but the family aren't so keen.

sashh · 23/01/2023 06:39

Sky / Skye then you can get a third and call her Diamonds.

Get the family to write down their favorite names on paper, roll the paper up and let her play with the rolled up paper, whichever she plays most with will be her name.

HowManyMoreTimes · 23/01/2023 20:46

These are all great, thank you! Who knew it would be so hard to all agree? This is obviously why Lucy stuck-we just couldn't come up with anything else!
Narrowing it down a bit to Cleo, Willow, Jude... but I really like the idea of letting her choose by playing with names on paper.
She comes home tomorrow Smile
