Hand hold - MRSA

Our lovely kitty has MRSA. Finally diagnosed last week after months of antibiotics, creams, pills, liquid tranquillisers. Started with field mites in summer, the itching continued and worsened. He's now on super antibiotics but fading fast - he's spent the night on my bed (unusual for him) and I keep waking up to check he's still breathing - he is taking very shallow breaths with worrying gaps in between.

Kids are going to be distraught. Anyone have any miracle stories?

No miracle stories sadly, but a hand hold & a virtual shoulder to cry on. If he's that bad, the only thing you can do now for him is to give him all the love you have then take him to the vet to be PTS.

Heartbreaking I know, I will be facing that in the next few weeks as Boycat has terminal CKD. But it's the last thing you can do for them if you love them.

Thanks. He's still hanging on. He wolfed his breakfast down but hasn't moved all day. He was scratching his (infected) skin so badly he's been in a vest but it's in the wash and he's not even bothered. Just sleeping.

He's already booked in at the vets on Friday for a review of the antibiotics. Fingers crossed for a turnaround.
