Help! Microchip Cat Feeders working intermittently - multi cat household

We have 6 of the surepet microchip feeders and sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t - we’re totally flummoxed.

When they’re not working, we reset and try to relearn a cat - but the green light just keeps blinking. Brand new batteries and not in training mode.

Has anyone had this and can help??

Ours are years old now and one of them really struggles to open for the right cat (even though the microchip flap recognises them fine). Try:

Checking the microchip hasn't moved in their neck. Normally a bit of friendly squidging will help
Clean all the sensors around the loop
If they're fairly new, complain to the manufacturer
