Best cheap cat litter?

Hi all.

Can anyone recommend a cheap but decent litter? I've been using Wilko's own brand silica crystal litter which is brilliant except it's never bloody in stock! I've been ordering it in bulk online but I can't stomach the £5 delivery fee anymore especially when they balls up my orders constantly.

I just need one that doesn't stink, is affordable and I can actually get hold of quickly. I wish they had some on Amazon that weren't extortionate!

Thanks!

I use this one. It's not too expensive and it lasts. Plus no smell

I’m standing outside my house with the front door open right now because of the smell of cat litter in the house. I’m giving the house an airing. it It’s only been used today but it’s terrible. We use waitrose own brand. I choose based on price but I may have to think again. We recently moved house and have no outdoor space. Previously we had a balcony and the cat tray was outside. Our house never smelled. Now when I come home it’s very bad.

that doesn’t help you at all but I’ll be interested in replies! The cost of living is affecting everyone though so I can’t just buy the most expensive.

I just use the Lidl one and it's grand.

another vote for breeder celect - and it is made of recycled paper

I really like the wood pellet ones too but they are more expensive

I like the lidl one too, can only get it when getting a lift though, can barely lift it off the pallet (weakling)

dementedpixie · 10/01/2023 18:20

Have a look on zooplus as they have a wide range of litters and will deliver it to you

sarahh96 · 10/01/2023 18:20

Waitrose own. Think it's about £2.10 per bag.
Sainsburys own stinks
Asda is never in stock
So, Waitrose gets my vote.
The trick is to get in and out the store, only buying that. I've never yet managed it!! 🤣

Celeryfavour · 10/01/2023 18:22

Interesting as I don't rate the Lidl one! I find it gets sodden straight away, and smells. I like Felight, it's on offer in Sainsbury at the moment.

RicciardoPerez · 10/01/2023 18:25

Tesco own brand here - £1.99 a bag and brilliant.

MadAndGlad · 10/01/2023 18:26

Tried all the cheaper versions. They need cleaning out 3× more than Catsan. I recommend Catsan all day long.

holierthanthou73 · 10/01/2023 18:27

I would say they are all pretty much of a muchness. Mine aren’t overall keen on the wood pellet type though.

I hate Catsan. It's a bastard to clean out.

I buy a wooden pellet one from home bargains for £3

shepherdlincoln · 10/01/2023 18:31

Cheers everyone for the responses.

I think I'll check out Lidl's offerings first as it would be very useful to be able to pick it up from a shop close to me. Anyone know if Aldi's do any good? DCat demands their own brand of wet food so perhaps I can kill two birds with one stone there!

I use this too. Perfectly adequate.

OldSpeclkledHen · 10/01/2023 21:22

Lidl's own clumping

purser25 · 10/01/2023 21:52

Use newspaper and just a little bit of cat litter. I noticed they did this at the cat shelter we got our cat from. It works.

AWaferThinMint · 11/01/2023 07:27

I buy clumping and scoop daily and it's ok. The pet shop near us does huge 15kg bags so I get those as it works out good value.
