6yo Cat turning waaaay more affectionate

She's a rescue around 6yo. Believed to have had 3 litters at least before she was 2. We had her at 2yo, she was rearing her last litter in the shelter when we met her. She got neutered there.
She was always looking out the window in the shelter, eager to go out, so bloody eager!
She began life with us quite timid. Didn't mind being picked up but not for too long, not a lap cat at all.
Discovered she loved curling up in a cardboard box, so when she was in it, I'd put her in it on my lap, a year later she would sit on my lap but only if I picked her up to do so.
She wouldn't dare come up on the sofa on her own accord, that took another 2/3 years!!!
Covid happened, we spent so much more time together, by this point she'd come up on the sofa and site next to me if encouraged, and would also come on my lap if I had a cozy blanket on me.
I then fell pregnant ended up sleeping on the sofa for months as it was the only comfortable place, therefore spent loads of time with her in the night as she'd curl up on the bean bag next to me, we'd play in the early hours after I'd had to go pee...or eat 😆...
She adapted to DD so blooming well it's unreal... she was so scared of her until about 6months of age...now crazy noisy unpredictable toddler that she has become my beautiful cat doesn't even bat an eyelid and let's the chaos reign even centimetres away in some instance 😂❤
Recently over the past month or 2 she's really been getting super confident and is all over me any chance she gets, even with no blanket and even bats away my phone so she can get a cuddle or fuss! It's almost every time I sit down... it's lovely but wondering if I need to be concerned. I'm 100% not pregnant.

She sounds wonderful. I have one similar, but she's always been like that. Maybe at long last, she finally realised she's safe and it's her home. One of mine took two years to become a lap cat. I did similar to what you did.

She sounds lovely! I was going to ask if you’re pregnant. One of mine is fixated with me at the moment because lm pregnant -her cuddling up to me during cold winter evenings is much appreciated

How weird! Our 7yo boy has started being like this recently too Grin

He's been sitting on both of us, demanding loads of fuss and even waits for us by the door when we get in from work demanding a cuddle - the other day he even wanted a head scratch from the Tesco driver!

Have you had the heating on much? Ours becomes a lap cat during winter but only because she wants our body heat. I just pretend she's in it for the love and enjoy it!

Oh! My little tuxedo lad too!! I wonder if it's because the house is colder this winter? All I know is I am loving it 🥰

Gosh I could I written this post. My husband has a theory it's some kind of maternal hormones they can sense - I'm also definitely not pregnant ha ha!
