Cat frequently washing bum

My cat seems to be more than usually washing around his bum and his lower legs. Any thoughts as to why he is doing this?

Worms? Check their stools.

Could be a UTI, is he peeing ok?

He's an outdoor cat so I don't know what he's up to outdoors.

If it's unusual behaviour for him, I'd get him checked by the vet.

Like PP said, it could be worms or a UTI. It could also be his anal glands, or an allergy. Definitely worth checking as he could be pretty uncomfortable or sore depending on what it is.

All fairly easily treated though.

Does his bum smell?

thank you for the replies. No his bum doesn't smell. I will take him to the vet and get him checked out.

Does he get wormed regularly?
