Still distraught at my boys passing

i just wanted to write how much I still miss my boy, we had to have him put to sleep 2 weeks ago due to a tumour - he was 16. I just can’t get over how empty the house feels without him and I just feel an ache when I’m sat in my usual spot that he isn’t on my lap 😭😭😭

I know this might not be a popular opinion but I would go for a trip to a local cat rescue. Obviously it's devastating that you've lost your best boy but there are many cat's in need who would love to full that gap on an experienced owners knee.

Awww op I'm sorry. It's a horrible pain isn't it.
Do you want to tell us about your boy? 16 is a very long life so he must have had a good one and I hope that's some comfort in the future. I know it won't be now.
I lost my 13 year old dog, then my cats one after the other. The pain was unreal I know what you're going through. For me it was getting up in the morning. The silence in the house. It really does get easier in time, six months is still early days and there's no set rule on how long grief lasts.
Do you have any more pets?

Unforgettablefire · 03/01/2023 21:16

Sorry two weeks not six months I don't know where that came from! Blush

He was just the most perfect boy he was so gentle and really was out first baby - after we got him we went on to have have 2 DC, who he was amazing with. He was a British shorthair and the gap he has left in out lives is just indescribable but I feel I can’t say that in real life 😢

I'm so sorry about the loss of your lovely cat. Would you like to post a photo of him?

Schnoodle · 03/01/2023 21:30

Sorry to hear your news. Just a quick bit of info....The bluecross have a bereavement service.

Candymay · 03/01/2023 21:32

I totally understand. I lost my little cat 2 years ago. He was 9 and had a terrible cancer. I loved him enormously and it’s been the worst grief I’ve ever experienced.
I still have his brother and I live in constant fear of losing him.
I can’t say anything positive to you because I’ve struggled so much. But I can tell you that I feel your pain.

Octopusmittens · 03/01/2023 21:33

So very sorry 💐

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2023 21:48

It gets better I promise. The best thing for me was another cat. Never to replace the one I lost. But she helped fill the gap.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2023 22:17

I sobbed every day for 18 months when our Bengal died, they leave a massive hole.

It was nearly 2 years till we got another cat.

Battlecat98 · 03/01/2023 22:27

Sorry for everyone on this thread that has a cat shaped hole. They really are the best and know when they are loved. You never forget but in time it won't feel as raw💐.

Ludo19 · 03/01/2023 22:55

Sorry for your loss xx. The pain is really indescribable. I was desolate when I lost my cats. My girls were the first ones I was totally responsible for and saw me through miscarriages and a relationship breakdown. I then lost my boy last year at only 9 whereas my girls were 18 & 19. Please remember grief has no time limit.

MaroonMidnight · 03/01/2023 23:39

I’m so sorry, I know how much it hurts, big hugs ❤️
