Cat licking belly despite cone.

Hi all,

My cat is a dickhead has got a rather nasty infection on his tummy exacerbated by licking. Several hundreds of pounds at the vets, antibiotics, steroids, new antibiotics later and he's still licking and getting sorer. Vet has recommended a cone. Which he hates but is reasonably tolerating on day 5.

Come home from work today and he's managed to somehow STILL reach his belly and it is bleeding, red raw, undone all of the last 5 day's frustration.

Any suggestions? Worth getting the bodysuit thing? Any recommendations please?

The little bodysuits are brilliant. He will pretend he can’t walk for a couple of days, but will be just fine.

Hear me out - a baby grow.

Before you laugh at me, I had to do this with my cat. She wouldn't wear the cone and licked her stitches and it also got infected. She was a little kitten so I bought a tiny tiny baby grow.
Worked a treat.

In the meantime for emergency measures, you can extend the cone outwards by taping a strip of paper around the edge.

Ours got the vest off in a couple of hours but we’re stymied by tubigrip elastic bandage with arm/leg holes.

@PeloFondo had the same issue with Ollie and used one of those self adhesive vet bandages.

Get her one of the bodysuits, so much nicer than a cone too (and they look cute!)
