Help! Katalax

Hi

Does anyone know where I can buy katalax over the counter anywhere in London? It really helps with my cats constipation, pets at home only have it available for collection on the 10th and I really need it today.

Many thanks..

Could you ask your vet for some liquid lactose? My cat tolerated that better than the katalax. Sorry I know that doesn't answer tge original question.

Thanks for the reply, he already has that. Unfortunately he was poorly last week and missed some of his meds. Katalax has worked in the past when he's like this.

Sorry to hear he is unwell. My old cat suffered terribly from constipation and I ended up putting him on cisapride following the vets recommendation. It was expensive but did work.

Thanks, he's already on that too! It does work but he missed a few doses due to being poorly and it's set him back.

That's a shame, my poor boy is no longer with us but I do remember the huge stress of it all.

I'm in the US, but we have Miralax here which is a product for humans but works brilliantly on my constipated old Manx lady.

Thanks for your kind words Emma.

Hi veryq, he's on miralax as well! The combo I have him on usually works excellently, but he missed a lot last week.

Vets sell Katalax, it costs a lot more than others. You can buy other makes in pet shops. I find Smilla is the best one but that is online from Zooplus. I also use Beaphars, Trixie, Johnsons. Some of the ones for ferrets are the same stuff.

When things are backed up I administer a couple of inches twice a day after food.

Look for 'malt paste for cats' if you want to find a place that sells it. I also have lactulose from the chemist, and add water to food, wet food only.

Amazon have malt paste, if you can find one with fast delivery. And if you can wade through all the unrelated crap that comes up on the search page...
I have ordered from there in the past but always make sure I have plenty in the house as unfortunately I seem to always have cats that need it.

I hope you find some quickly. (Sardines in oil?)

Thank you generated, he managed to pass some today and we have a vet appt tomorrow, will always make sure I have katalax in from now on. Such a worry!
