Cat in the ceiling...help!

I'm really hoping some wise at owners can make suggestions here.
I've had a traumatic time of things house-wise recently.
I had a huge flood in my bathroom which created holes in the kitchen ceiling.
Whist they were drying out one of my cats has taken a shine to the space between the ceiling and the floorboards.
So, it's all completely dry and ready to fix now. The man came on Thursday and boarded it all over ready to plaster and paint it.
In the small hours of Friday morning I realised that my cat was trapped in the ceiling space behind the boards. I ended up ripping the boards down and damaging my ceiling further to get her out.
The trouble is, the guy is coming to fix the ceiling permanently on Tuesday but the traumatised cat is now hiding in "her" loft space and won't come out. There's lots of building work going on in the house so she's traumatised anyway.
I've set up a cat carrier (which she normally loves) in hidden corner sprayed with cat nip. I've offered tasty treats and started feeding them in the spare room so I can shut them in there whilst the ceiling gets fixed. But how do I get her out of the ceiling?
Any good techniques to try please?
Thanks!

If she comes out now, will you be able to keep her out until Tuesday?

mycatisstuck · 03/12/2022 14:48

Probably not, I can shut the door to the kitchen but they're like fluffy ninjas for getting out of or into places. I'm going to stay home from work on Tuesday morning so I need some good ideas for then.

Oh no. My only suggestion would be to put food out and to make sure the house and room is as quiet as possible. Try to leave the room empty and let her come out in her own time. How did she get up there? Can you block up the access if she is out before Tuesday?

I can't put the board back on as it's really tricky and heavy but I may be able to duct tape a large piece of card over the hole.

you've got to do something to keep her out.
Agree she'll come out when hungry

She's out now, the hole is covered with rubble bags and duct tape and the kitchen door is firmly closed.
I will keep her in the spare room (if I can get her there) whilst they replace the ceiling again but have 48 hours to get through first.
Wish me luck and thanks for replying.

So glad she’s out. Good luck keeping her out of the way now!
