Cat started pooing inside

My cat is 15 and always been totally house trained but tonight he came and pooed on the bed and then again in the bath. A bit TMI here but poo stunk and was quite runny so I think he has an upset stomach but he’s still eating and seems fine otherwise.

i’m going to take him to the vet but anyone got any ideas why he’s started this out of the blue.

Hopefully this isn’t the case for uou, but it was the beginning of the end for my cat. They did a worming treatment to see if it was that, then eventually it turned out that she had probably stomach cancer. She had horrendous diarrhoea for around two months while I let the vets do all kinds of stuff to her. I wish I’d let her go earlier but the vets didn’t give me any sign that we were approaching the end. I feel sorry for her now, I had to keep getting her bum shaved because she couldn’t clean herself and the diarrhoea was matting.

Hopefully yours will just be a bout of illness or worns or something she’s eaten. Older cats can also begin to do odd things if they get dementia but it seems like this has come on too fast for that.

Thank you. He has been acting a bit different lately, super affectionate and jumping up on counters (never done either of those things before) but I didn’t think much of it.

I’ll mention the change of behaviour to the vet. He does seem otherwise healthy though but the pooing is totally out of character for him.

Has anyone else had this? He's eating again today and seems to be fine but it was totally out of character for him

Yes one of our 5 year old cats did this the other week. We were all watching tv she came into middle of room and just did it! Horrifying. That was about a month ago not happened since and she seems normal again.

Hopefully it is a one off - wasn't his biggest fan whilst scrubbing the bathroom at 1am 😏and main thing is he seems okay this morning.

I had this twice. Fortunately on laminate floor. It was a protest about the free sample of tofu litter, I'd mixed in with their normal stuff. I changed the tray and it's not happened since. (I'm slightly amazed they actually protested, they are so passive!)
