Just looking for some advice really.
Bit of the back story as to how we came to be looking after a cat.
In the summer we found a really hungry thin cat, she was living in an oak tree, came out when we were walking by, dh picked her up and she was very friendly but basically starving,
We took her home and fed her, called cats protection and a few other local cat shelters who gave us some advice but couldn't take her as they were all full.
They asked if we were willing to look after her and if we could get her scanned for a microchip. We did this and although she was chipped and the chip was put in at vets around 20 miles away she hadn't been reported as lost and the phone number provided didn't connect.
We agreed to continue looking after the cat, she's seven years old, and left our details with the vet so they could pass them on if anyone came looking for her.
She's a lovely cat but very nervous, it's taken three months for her to come inside the house as previously she would sleep in the summer house at the bottom of the garden and was quite happy there, but now it's colder we were worried about her being in there.
Over the months she gradually getting more comfortable being around us and has just started to jump on on the sofa when I'm setting on it, she will sort right next to me and rub her head on me, but a few times she swiped me with her paw and scratched me and this evening she's bitten my arm.
I'm not sure why she's done this as I wasn't stroking her and she initiated the contact by rubbing her head and neck on me, does anyone have any experience of anything similar?
I don't have young children so that's not a concern, I just want the cat to be happy and feel settled, I don't know how to help her with this, we mostly ignore her and let her wander round and come to us when she's ready.
I also have tried a plug in that's supposed to help but I'm not sure it has.
Any advice greatly appreciated, please be kind, I'm only trying to help this kitty as there was nobody else who could.
