Cat has lost her miaow

My very beautiful cat Cordelia is 17 and a half, and in very good health. Active, playful, affectionate, eats well, lovely coat etc. However, over the last maybe three months, her miaow has become hoarse. The exception is first thing in the morning when she demands her breakfast. She's always been very vocal which is why it's so noticeable - has anyone else experienced the same?

Oh my what a beautiful lady Cordelia is!
My cat had laryngitis and lost her meow. It could just be old age. Our voices change as we get older, almost gruffer if that makes sense?

Thank you! Maybe it's just old age. I just hate to think of her as being old ... I have had her from six weeks old.

I suspect it's old age.

I care for a 20 year old cat who barely has a meow anymore. He tries but it never sounds quite right, bless him 🤣

My 18 year old cat also lost her miaow about a year ago. It’s a grating squawk now. Harsh on the ears. Other than that she’s great. Sleeps a fair bit these days.
