Cat disinterested in wet food

I’m slightly worried about my weird cat. She’s about 8 months old BSH and I’ve had her for six weeks. In the last few she’s become increasingly picky about her food (she’s been spayed in the middle of this but is now two weeks post op and finally fine). Food she loved two weeks ago she’s now offended by and immediately trying to bury. Currently trying about six different types of wet food and she’s just really not bothered! She’s never been particularly treat incentivised, but the first couple of weeks ate ferociously.
She’s been checked by the vet several times in the last few weeks so I don’t think there can be anything properly wrong, and she had blood tests from the spay. She’s also very chatty and squeaks at me a lot, no idea what she’s trying to tell me!

Everyone else talks about their cats doing nothing but eat, why is mine being ridiculous, and how can I make her more interested in it?!

(Attaching photos for attention and because she’s generally gorgeous)

She's gorgeous 💕

I have 3 moggies who only eat dry food. They've never eaten wet. They are 3.5 years old now and absolutely thriving.

Photos of my morons because why not? 🤣🤣

Our 18 month old boy isn’t bothered by food and only eats dry now. He used to wolf his meat at first, then started only licking the gravy, and then stopped altogether. So I buy a good quality dry food and he’s grand. Doesn’t hunt either so far as we can tell, and never eats food we leave around.

Oh that’s v interesting, she’s also far more interested in the gravy than the meat! If this continues may upgrade her to fancier dry food, fairly certain the whiskas she’s currently eating is the nutritional equivalent of Pringles.

If she's not fussed by wet food I really wouldn't worry - she'll be absolutely fine on a diet of good quality dry food!

My Persians won't eat wet food either. They'll drink the kiwis from cat soup, but the meat gets left. That was a challenge when one of them needed a soft diet for jaw issues!

Liquid

Mine won't eat wet cat food. She has a complete dry food and eats chicken, prawns, fish instead.

All of my other cats were crazy for wet food 🤷🏻‍♀️

She does like the cat soups so if your cat likes just the gravy she may enjoy those. Just make sure your dry food is a complete food and she'll be getting everything she needs.

I have two cats.

Boy cat isn't interested in wet food at all, he looks at it and paws the ground to cover it up. He will happily fill himself up on dry food.

Girl cat will meow until she gets her pouch and depending on which type it is, will eat the whole lot, just the jelly and then nibble some dry food.

Both are very treat-orientated but lick e lix yoghurt type treats / dreamies only if I offer the chewy type of stick treat, it's like I have just offered either of them a stick of poo so a definite no.

Both get occasional bits of ham/chicken etc (but not directly from the fridge as that's too cold for these cats, so a 30-second blast in the microwave)

Both moggies and large build but not actually fat according to the vet

She is absolutely stunning!

I find ours will only eat the horrendously expensive wet food - the seriously good bistro or applaws, and only the fish ones. They wolfed all food down to start (but came as rescues!) and developed fancier paletes within a couple of months.

They adore wiskas crunchies and denta bites, dreamies, lick-e-lix, soft sticks and the cat fish fillets. They eat better than me!

Mine are the same with wet food. They tend to only lick the jelly/gravy off much of the time, though do eat a reasonable amount of the pate styles. They are grazers, so have frequent nibbles during the day & night, and usually go straight for the dry.

This has caused issues lately as Boycat needs a renal diet and the vets prefer this to be mostly wet. Luckily he always was a good drinker, even more so now. But due to their eating habits, that means Girlcat is also on the renal diet as I can't put down normal food for her in case he eats it and it's costing me a fortune
